Musician. Producer. Story-teller. Lawrence Hepburn III was born and raised with music in his veins. Growing up in The Bahamas, LJ (as he known to family and friends) played several instruments and was surrounded by sounds of music from the church and strongly influenced by musicians in his family.
The evolution of DJ LJ began during his teenage years and his curiosity about the cultural roots of music genres inspired the creativity evident today in the music fusions heard at his performances.
DJ LJ is passionate about telling a story to listeners through music and he has developed a reputation at home for his signature music fusions. He can be heard daily Monday through Friday on popular radio station Kiss 96.1FM in Nassau, Bahamas with his midday mix of music genres, a pleasing cultural blend encompassing African Beats, Soca, Reggae and Electronics, highlighted by the indigenous sounds of The Bahamas – Rake ‘N’ Scrape and Junkanoo.
As a DJ for one of the largest Carnival Mas Bands in The Bahamas – Bahamas Masqueraders, his infectious beats are a driving force on the road during Bahamas Junkanoo Carnival and most recently at Miami Carnival 2017, when the Band debuted its International Costume Section with Gisselle ‘The Wassi One’s’ Mas Band during her 30th Anniversary Celebration.
DJ LJ performs with several top entertainers in The Bahamas and has also performed at events in United States and the Caribbean.
